Bloggers and Journalists

This is probably the best discussion on the difference between the bloggers and journalists I have ever read. However, I want to point out that Henry was talking about bloggers of the intellectual kinds. Yes, just like we have quality and popular newspapers, we also have intellectual bloggers, and those who simply like venting in the cyberworld--which is not a bad thing and could be fun for themselves and others sometimes, by the way.

Review practice: Children of Men

The movie is actually much better than this trailer...

Depraved heroes are old in Hollywood films, but in Children of Men (Alfonso Cuarón, 2006), Clive Owen shows why they never die. The background of the movie is set in London, 2027, when mankind has been unable to procreate for 18 years. Humans lose sight in future and the world grows anarchic, and Owen plays the reluctant saviour here, an apathetic activist turned cop forced to protect the planet’s last hope. He was drawn through England by Julianne Moore, his revolutionary ex-wife, to send a mysteriously pregnant woman to a haven at sea. Universal is brilliant in premiering this film in UK before US, as some scenes see the southern England becoming Muslim ghettos and the politicians roaring “no immigrant is legal”, the reflection of British fear of both the left and right. Yet more glittering is the performance of Owen, who in one shot tries to numb himself by alcoholic after losing an intimate, but could not resist kneeling down to cry.

Busy, Busy

Have not been on here for a while. This first month of school was really too busy, plus that the internet here is lousy, so I am not so much in the mood of blogging...anyway, still have 2500-word essay next week. Who says UK grad skul is easy to get by?
